Overview
An established and reputable managed IT solutions partner, based in Sandton, is seeking a skilled and proactive Technical Consultant to join our team. We specialize in providing end-to-end IT infrastructure solutions and support for South African SMEs, ensuring our clients can focus on their core business without the burden of technology challenges. This role is for a dedicated individual who can provide second-line technical support and strategic consultation. You will be a key point of contact for clients, handling a range of responsibilities from system troubleshooting to the implementation of new solutions.
Responsibilities
- Client Support and Troubleshooting: Respond to and resolve support calls both on-site and via remote connection, assisting customers telephonically as needed.
- Systems Management: Install, configure, and support Microsoft server operating systems and application software. Perform general hardware installation and troubleshooting on servers and networking equipment.
- Infrastructure & Security: Conduct remote administration of servers and networks, identify potential risks, and propose remediation strategies.
- Project and Administration: Compile configuration documentation for client sites and manage orders, follow-ups, and service repairs with external suppliers.
- Team Collaboration: Provide second-line escalation for technical issues from the helpdesk and assist with the management of the support team.
Qualifications and Experience
- A matriculation certificate is required.
- You must hold an International MCSE / MCSA or equivalent certification, as well as an A+, Server+, N+ or similar qualification.
- At least five years of server support and maintenance experience is essential.
- Proven experience in networking and firewall configuration and administration.
- Strong knowledge of backup solutions, including Veeam, and proficiency with remote support applications such as VPN and RDP.
- Advanced knowledge of Active Directory and experience with Office 365 configuration and administration are necessary.
- A solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, server hardware (including RAID), and troubleshooting procedures is required.

Compensation & Benefits
- Cost to company (CTC) between R35,000 and R45,000, dependent on qualifications, experience, and skill level.
- The company contributes 50% to your medical aid.
- You will receive reimbursement for company travel and a company-provided laptop.
- Overtime is compensated in the form of commission.
- The role requires you to have your own transport and the ability to work after hours on short notice.
