Job description

We are looking to secure an analytical, team player to join our Mr Price technology security team!

  • Work with architects, system engineers, and other IT support teams to define, guide, and advise on security standards across the IT landscape, monitoring network activity to identify vulnerable points.
  • Design and configure security hardware and software.
  • Use available toolsets to identify and detect intrusions on corporate networks and endpoints; detect any unauthorized access attempts.
  • Provide solutions for network security enhancements to the security roadmap.
  • Train employees on security best practices and mentor junior team members.
  • Monitor software and hardware for potential cyber attacks.
  • Develop and implement new security solutions using various technologies; evaluate new vendors to ensure security standards are met.
  • Perform security assessments and conduct internal network scans.
  • Analyze existing systems and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare reports, action plans, and update the risk register.
  • Organize and conduct security tests and ethical hacking of the company's IT architecture.
  • Maintain current technical knowledge through ongoing education.
  • Provide automation solutions where possible.
  • Serve as a security expert and conduct training as needed.
  • Draft security policies, SOPs, and guidelines.
  • Review production changes as a change advisory member.
  • Research, benchmark, and perform trend analysis and baseline exercises.
  • Align security efforts with organizational policies and actively uphold security goals.

Education & Certifications

Relevant IT degree and certifications such as:

  • CompTIA Security+
  • CISSP
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer
  • Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator
  • Associate of ISC
  • Google Certified Associate Engineer
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner / Engineer

Experience

  • At least 3 years in a security role.
  • Over 5 years in infrastructure support and enterprise solution deployment.
  • Knowledge of networking and directory services (Active Directory).
  • Strong understanding of enterprise solutions like vulnerability management, cloud applications, M365 compliance, Google Workspace security, web filtering.
  • Understanding of Security Operations Centre protocols.
  • Knowledge of OS and protocols, data leakage prevention, mobile device management, endpoint security, application security, cloud solutions, identity and access management, penetration testing, web security, and networking.
  • Familiarity with NIST and SANS frameworks is advantageous.
  • Experience with governance standards (POPI, Data Protection, PCI).
  • Management of SIEM environments.
  • Design and support of vulnerability management and authentication solutions.
  • Knowledge of cloud security controls, web firewalls, API security.
