Purpose of the Job: To effectively and efficiently manage the Investments Reconciliations team to ensure that the necessary oversight and controls over the recons processes, scrip lending processes and over our administrators APEX.

To manage the delivery of high quality services to clients, building effective relationships with internal teams and to promote a culture of high performance, innovation, ambition and continuous improvement within Investment Operations.

The successful incumbent will be responsible for coaching, mentoring and management of a team of specialised oversight functions.

These functions include, but are not limited to, cash reconciliations, scrip reconciliations, Scrip lending oversight and management of overall reconciliation functions.

The successful incumbent will report to the Head of Portfolio Administration in the Investment Administration area.

Overview:

Education:

  1. Matric – Essential
  2. BCom Financial (3 years - credits) – Essential

Experience:

  1. Financial instruments - Executing and managing – 6 years minimum
  2. Reconciliations – Executing and managing – 6 years minimum
  3. Portfolio administration – Executing and managing – 6 years minimum

Key Performance Areas:

Recons:

  1. Ensure all aspects of daily operations are run smoothly and within agreed standards.
  2. Oversight of APEX with respect to reconciliations.
  3. Review and improvement of process.
  4. Coordinating of bi-annual audits.

Automation:

  1. Automate Manual Processes.
  2. Enhance Processes.
  3. Project Management.

Trade and Rebalancing:

  1. Understanding the daily trade & rebalance process.
  2. Perform rebalance.
  3. Resolving trading queries with administrators APEX.
  4. Performing Cash Management function that entails coordinating and preparing Asset Managers.

Scrip Lending:

  1. Oversight of day to day Scrip Lending process.
  2. Assisting Team with Preparation of OPCO Report.
  3. Incorporating Scrip Lending utilization with Positions Recon.
  4. Relationship building with scrip lending agents (Standard Bank and RMB).

Balanced Scorecard Performance Management:

  1. Management of Recons Team.
  2. Ensure bi-annual Performance Reviews are completed.
  3. Coordinate monthly review meetings for the team.
