Our client, Triz Engineering Solutions, has a great opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to form part of their advanced engineering team at Triz Engineering. Triz Engineering Solutions is a premium product engineering and development company specializing in end-to-end turn-key commercial vehicle development.

They provide end-to-end engineering services for commercial vehicle engineering and development from feasibility and conceptualization, through productionization and service support.

Their solutions include zero emissions such as battery electric and fuel cell, as well as hybrid or conventional powered products.

They also offer solutions for other advanced vehicle technologies such as ADAS, vehicle autonomy, and telematics.

Their services are turnkey solutions that are validation tested and ready for mass production.

Furthermore, their product development expertise includes medium and heavy-duty commercial vehicles in applications such as delivery, bus, motorhome, off-highway, refuse, and several other specialized and vocational vehicle markets.

Skills and Requirements:

1. B Eng Degree or B Tech Degree in Mechanical Engineering
2. Willing to travel overseas for variable periods
3. South African Citizenship
4. 7+ Years of post-graduate work experience
5. Experience in automotive engineering development or similar preferred
6. Attention to detail
7. Excellent in task management
8. Ability to work under pressure
9. Good Written and Verbal Communication (English)
10. Computer literacy with advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Responsibilities:

1. Evaluate task scope of work
2. Prepare and maintain bills of materials and their representative 3D assemblies
3. Create 3D component models and 2D part drawings to meet supplier and regulatory requirements
4. Liaise with overseas suppliers and customers on designs
5. Conduct concept and design reviews
6. Learning to operate CAD software packages and PLM systems
7. Support the day-to-day activities of customers
8. Provide creative and technically feasible solutions for cost savings, service issues, and product improvements
9. Interface with materials and purchasing on new part design and sourcing
10. Interface with Analysis, Test, and Manufacturing Engineering to determine the most effective and economical use of materials and manufacturing processes
11. Interface with the Product Regulation and Compliance staff to design products that meet government regulations, restrictions, and codes
