Job Summary:

Resource and Project Finance (RPF) sits within Absa's Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) division and reports into the Head of CIB. The team is responsible for identifying, structuring, and executing RPF banking opportunities across Africa.

The Vice President (VP) role will report directly into the Head of RPF SA and be responsible for leading the structuring and execution of project finance transactions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead role in the origination and execution of resource and project finance transactions.
  2. Undertake detailed transaction due diligence, including the review and analysis of financial, legal, commercial, and technical reports.
  3. Lead client/bank/advisor interaction and ensure the smooth running of transactions.
  4. Support all areas of execution from origination to financial close in compliance with the Bank's risk appetite.
  5. Preparation of term sheets and negotiation of loan documentation.
  6. Preparation of the credit analysis and relevant documentation for review and approval by credit committees.
  7. Preparation and presentation of marketing materials and pitching to target clients.
  8. Cross-sell products from other areas of the Bank.
  9. Assist with the portfolio management of existing transactions including credit reviews, redeterminations, waivers, and amendments.
  10. Assist in delivering the strategy and promoting the profile of the Bank.
  11. Manage, mentor, and develop more junior members of the team.

Qualifications:

  1. University Degree or equivalent with professional qualifications.
  2. 5-7+ years of experience in project finance.
  3. Demonstrable understanding of typical structures used in project finance, structured trade and commodity finance, reserve based lending and corporate facilities.
  4. In-depth knowledge of natural resources and energy, power, and renewable energy sectors.
  5. Strong credit and financial analysis/financial modelling skills.
  6. Good team player with an ability to work independently when required.
  7. Strong communication skills - oral, written, and presentation.
  8. Strong track record in delivering initiatives and solutions in a high-pressure environment.
  9. Leadership experience in delivering timely, high-quality outcomes both independently and collaboratively in a small-team environment.

Education:

Bachelor's Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
