Job Description
African Infrastructure Investment Managers (“AIIM”) is one of the leading private equity infrastructure managers in Africa, having raised over USD 4.5 billion in capital over the last two decades. With 5 offices across the continent, AIIM has invested in more than 20 African countries, with over 74 investments in sectors such as Power, Digital Infrastructure, Transportation, and Midstream. AIIM is a wholly owned subsidiary of Old Mutual Alternative Investments (OMAI), which manages private equity, impact funds, and infrastructure funds with assets totaling USD 7.6 billion. Our goal is to deliver superior risk-adjusted returns while making a positive social impact across Africa.
Responsibilities
The role will be within the investment team, reporting to the Head of Strategic Initiatives. The successful candidate will gain exposure to the full scope of the business and engage with senior executives and regional investment teams. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational and communication skills and be able to collaborate effectively with colleagues and external partners.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting senior team members in investor identification, origination, and sector research
- Developing relationships with internal stakeholders to support reporting and information needs for AIIM and investors
- Handling activities related to compliance, governance, and internal approvals for new product initiatives
- Building relationships with existing and new clients through pitches, reporting, and due diligence
- Creating content for product-specific presentations
- Managing data room content and access for investor engagements
- Assisting with investor reports, due diligence materials, and fundraising queries
- Maintaining fundraising pipelines and progress reports
- Preparing information requests for industry bodies, RfPs, and investor/consultant due diligence
- Analyzing industry trends and market intelligence for new product development
- Managing fund models to track performance against forecasts and benchmarks
- Supporting the development of new strategic initiatives
Required Experience and Core Competencies
- Honours degree in a Financial discipline
- 4-6 years’ experience in fundraising and investor relations within relevant sectors
- Strong financial modelling skills
- Financial acumen and ability to identify data inconsistencies
- Sound business judgment and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and quality focus
- Knowledge of alternative investment products, fund structures, legal, tax, and regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Project and process management skills
- Effective planning and prioritization abilities
- Excellent communication skills in English
