Job summary

M&G Investments invites high-performing graduates to join its Investment Analyst Graduate Programme, starting February 2027. The structured two-year rotation offers hands-on exposure to investment management, with six-month rotations across Equity, Fixed Income, Multi-Asset and Distribution.

Participants will work with experienced professionals, contribute to real investment decisions and develop skills in research, portfolio construction and client engagement.

Qualifications

• Be a South African citizen.
• Hold a postgraduate qualification in any field of study.
• Have a strong academic track record.
• Demonstrate genuine interest in pursuing a career in investments.
• Have no more than two years of work experience.
• Possess strong quantitative, analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Responsibilities

• Gain exposure to equity, fixed income and multi-asset investment research and portfolio management during six-month rotations.

Job description

M&G Investments is seeking talented, high-performing graduates to join our Investment Analyst Graduate Programme, commencing in February 2027.

This structured two-year rotational programme is designed to provide aspiring investment professionals with direct, hands-on exposure to investment management within a leading global asset manager. Graduates will complete four six-month rotations across key areas of the investments business, gaining broad industry exposure while developing technical, analytical and commercial skills.

Throughout the programme, participants will work alongside experienced investment professionals, contribute to real investment decisions and build a deep understanding of financial markets, portfolio construction, research and client engagement. The programme also provides support for professional development, including encouragement and assistance towards the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification.

About the Programme

Graduates will rotate through the following business areas:

Equity (6 Months)

Within the Equity Investment Team, graduates will gain exposure to fundamental equity investment research and analysis of listed companies and equity portfolio construction.. Exposure and responsibilities may include:

• Understanding the equity research process
• Conducting indepth company and industry research
• Analysing financial statements, building financial models and evaluating valuation metrics
• Monitoring market developments and investment opportunities
• Presenting investment recommendations to the equity team on assigned stocks
• Supporting portfolio managers and equity analysts with research projects

Fixed Income (6 Months)

Within the Fixed Income Team, graduates will gain exposure to the fixed income market with a specific focus on fundamental credit research. Exposure and responsibilities may include:

• Understanding the credit research process
• Conducting credit risk assessments of issuers
• Analysing and evaluating credit pricing
• Monitoring economic and market developments
• Supporting portfolio managers and analysts fixed income research

Multi-Asset (6 Months)

Within the Multi-Asset Team, graduates will develop an understanding of asset allocation and portfolio management across multiple asset classes. Exposure and responsibilities may include:

• Understanding the multi-asset research process and philosophy
• Assisting the team with macroeconomic and market analysis
• Monitoring portfolio performance and investment positioning
• Conducting investment and fund research
• Contributing to portfolio reporting and investment insights

Distribution (6 months)

The Distribution rotation comprises two key sub-rotations:

a. Client Solutions (3 Months)

Graduates will gain insight into investment products and product management by:

• Supporting product and regulatory research and analysis
• Assisting with product development initiatives and product business cases
• Supporting product governance and periodic product review processes.
• Monitoring competitor offerings, pricing structures and market trends
• Engaging with investment teams, distribution and marketing to understand product positioning and client needs

b. Institutional & Wholesale Distribution (3 Months)

Graduates will gain exposure to client servicing and business development by:

• Supporting institutional and wholesale client activities
• Assisting with client reporting and presentations
• Conducting market and competitor research
• Developing an understanding of client needs and investment solutions
