Job description

A vacancy exists for an Inventory Manager based at Life Rosepark Hospital, reporting to Christa Swanepoel, Pharmacy Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating surgical and other aspects within the Pharmacy services in the hospital environment, ensuring the achievement of quality pharmaceutical services, financial objectives, legislative compliance, and people management requirements.

Critical Outputs
Effective surgical product safety management
  • Report 100% of inventory incidents and develop and implement remedial actions as appropriate.
  • Complete trend analysis quarterly with relevant actions in collaboration with the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Report 100% of pharmacy alerts, develop remedial actions, and complete trend analysis quarterly.
  • Drive reduction in surgical stock adverse events and implement effective corrective actions.
Effective quality management systems
  • Participate in the implementation and compliance of LHC Quality Management Systems.
  • Ensure compliance with SAPC, DOH, and LHC legal and professional standards.
  • Support achievement of audit compliance and targets, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Achieve customer service levels in theatre and wards.
  • Implement customer satisfaction and pharmacy quality initiatives.
Effective financial management
  • Participate in achieving hospital budgeted financial measures related to pharmacy.
  • Manage and oversee monthly operational efficiencies to improve financial performance.
  • Identify trends and implement corrective actions.
Effective product management
  • Participate in managing the cost of sales of pharmaceuticals aligned with revenue and budget.
  • Ensure product information accuracy and standards.
  • Drive improvements in utilization, formulary, and cost compliance to support value-based care.
  • Liaise with Pharmacy, Theatres, and other departments regarding surgical products, usage, and change management.
  • Build effective relationships with doctors and hospital departments through regular engagement.
Effective asset management
  • Achieve stock targets and KPIs for the pharmacy.
  • Support reporting staff with guidance and leadership.
  • Participate in stock takes within Theatre and other departments.
  • Ensure optimal system utilization by staff.
Effective people management
  • Recruit, retain, motivate, and develop staff according to LHC policies.
  • Provide direction and foster positive work behavior.
  • Maintain professional standards at all times.
Requirements
  • Relevant Degree or diploma – minimum of NQF level 7.
  • Experience in inventory management or relevant pharmacy environment experience.
  • Knowledge of inventory control processes and practices.
  • Understanding of management and relationship structures within an operating environment.
  • People management experience.
  • Basic financial and numeric skills.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Driver’s license and ability to travel.
