Job summary

A leading FMCG group seeks an Inventory / Fixed Assets Accountant in Cape Town. The position involves ensuring compliance with accounting standards, managing stock and fixed assets, and preparing management accounts for multiple entities. Qualifications

  • Availability to travel locally.

Job description

Inventory / Fixed Assets Accountant

R500k (Neg) plus bonus

Cape Town

Excellent career opportunity with an established FMCG Group. Reporting to the Financial Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring reporting compliance with Company Policy, IFRS standards, and industry best practices.

Key Performance Areas

  1. Ensure timely completion of finished production orders, including all consumables and costing details.
  2. Conduct monthly stock takes with the stock clerk and review all stock sheets to verify variances.
  3. Manage fixed assets, including depreciation, amortization schedules, asset finance, stock, and Capex coding.
  4. Assist in preparing statutory returns within your area of control.
  5. Oversee daily system reconciliations by monitoring and clearing suspense buckets.
  6. Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and explaining variances.
  7. Prepare management accounts for the five entities on a monthly basis.
  8. Contribute to the preparation of annual operational and production budgets for all entities.
  9. Record monthly and year-end journal entries.
  10. Provide supporting documentation and schedules for internal and external audits.
  11. Assist with VAT return submissions, manage VAT control accounts, and handle SARS queries.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Degree in Accounting (B.Com, B.Tech, CIMA) or equivalent qualification.
  2. Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in manufacturing or FMCG sectors.
  3. Proficiency in advanced Excel and strong technical accounting skills.
  4. Availability to travel locally.
