Job summary

A leading FMCG group is seeking an Inventory / Fixed Assets Accountant for their Cape Town office. Responsibilities include managing financial reporting, overseeing stock takes, and ensuring compliance with company policies and IFRS standards. The ideal candidate will hold a relevant degree, have strong technical accounting knowledge, and excel in Excel, with a minimum of three years’ experience in manufacturing or the FMCG sector.

Qualifications

  • 3 years post-qualification experience in manufacturing or FMCG sector.
  • Availability to travel locally.

  • Conduct monthly stock takes and verify variances.

Inventory / Fixed Assets Accountant

R500k (Neg) plus bonus

Cape Town

Excellent career opportunity with an established FMCG Group. Reporting to the Financial Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring reporting aligns with Company Policy, IFRS requirements, and industry standards.

Key Performance Areas

  1. Ensure timely completion of finished production orders, including consumption of consumables and costing.
  2. Conduct monthly stock takes with the stock clerk, review, and sign off stock sheets to verify variances.
  3. Manage fixed assets, including depreciation, amortization schedules, bank asset finance, stock, and capex code issuing.
  4. Assist in compiling statutory returns within your control area.
  5. Oversee daily system suspense bucket monitoring and reconciliations.
  6. Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and variance explanations.
  7. Prepare management accounts for all five entities promptly.
  8. Assist in the preparation of annual operational and production budgets for all entities.
  9. Prepare monthly and year-end journal entries.
  10. Support internal and external auditors with schedules and evidence.
  11. Assist with VAT return submissions, VAT account reconciliation, and SARS queries.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Accounting (e.g., B.Com), B.Tech, or CIMA qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in manufacturing or FMCG sector.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Availability to travel locally.
