Job summary

takealot.com, a leading South African online retailer, is seeking a Finance Lead: Inventory & Stock Optimisation to join our Head Office in Cape Town. You will own the full financial management of inventory across 1P and 3P, drive stock valuation accuracy, and lead automation initiatives in finance systems.

The role balances deep IFRS-based accounting with strategic, AI-enabled decision making and partners with Retail and Marketplace leaders to optimise stock and costs.

Qualifications

• : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• : 4–7 years of experience in ecommerce/retail or a data-intensive environment.
• : Experience with stock and ERP integrations and reconciliations.
• : Ability to design or manage automation projects in finance.
• : Knowledge of IFRS | IAS 2.

Responsibilities

• Full financial ownership of inventory across 1P and 3P, including stock valuations and reconciled positions.
• Maintain accurate stock positions across warehouses and in-transit nodes.
• Oversee stock cost reporting (landed cost, cost of sales, provisions, write-downs).
• Own month-end inventory close process with accurate, timely reporting.
• Ensure IFRS-compliant accounting for inventory movements and costs (IAS 2).
• Develop automated reconciliation frameworks and tracking for stock transactions.
