The Inventory Analyst is responsible for optimizing stock levels, minimizing excess inventory, and preventing stockouts through data-driven analysis. This role ensures the right products are available at the right time while reducing carrying costs and improving cash flow.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Inventory Optimization & Demand Forecasting
- Analyze historical sales data, trends, and seasonality to forecast demand accurately.
- Set optimal stock levels (safety stock, reorder points) using statistical models.
- Identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory and recommend liquidation strategies.
2. Data Analysis & Reporting
- Generate daily / weekly inventory reports (turnover rates, fill rates, GMROI).
- Monitor key metrics (stockouts, overstock, shrinkage) and propose corrective actions.
- Use ERP / WMS systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) to track inventory in real time.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with procurement to align purchase orders with demand forecasts.
- Partner with warehouse teams to improve stock accuracy (cycle counts, audits).
- Support sales and marketing in planning promotions or new product launches.
4. Process Improvement
- Implement automation tools (barcode scanners, RFID) to reduce manual errors.
- Develop inventory dashboards (Power BI, Tableau) for leadership visibility.
- Streamline inventory replenishment processes using lean methodologies.
- Mitigate risks of stockouts, overstocking, or supplier delays .
- Analyze supply chain disruptions and adjust inventory strategies accordingly.
Technical Skills
- Advanced Excel / Google Sheets – Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros
- Inventory Management Software – SAP, Oracle, Fishbowl, or similar
- Statistical Analysis – Forecasting models (moving averages, exponential smoothing)
- ERP / WMS Systems – Real-time inventory tracking
Soft Skills

Qualifications & Experience :
Education :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business Analytics, Finance, or related field
- Certifications (Preferred) :
CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) – APICS
- CSCA (Certified Supply Chain Analyst)
- Six Sigma (Green Belt) – For process optimization
Experience :
- 3+ years in inventory control, demand planning, or supply chain analytics .
- Experience in retail, e-commerce, or manufacturing is highly valued.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced analytics tools.
