Job summary

Rhodes University invites suitably qualified candidates to join the Department of Human Kinetics and Ergonomics as Project Coordinator on a 2-year contract. You will provide research support to the Principal Investigator and coordinate study procedures.

Your responsibilities include data collection, participant recruitment, staffing, field monitoring, scheduling, grant reporting, ethics applications, and supervising drivers, community liaison, and fieldworkers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (NQF level 7) required with about 3 years relevant experience.
• Experience with word-processing, email and internet.
• Experience writing reports.
• General administrative experience in a computerized environment.
• Valid driver’s licence preferred.
• Two years’ experience coordinating or managing research studies is an advantage.
• Financial administration and meeting minute-taking experience.

Department of Human Kinetics and Ergonomics

The Department of Human Kinetics and Ergonomicsinvite suitably qualified candidates to join their team.

Main Objectives

To provide research support to the Principal Investigator at the Department of Human Kinetics and Ergonomics at Rhodes University research team working on this project. The Project Coordinator will help to coordinate the research study at Rhodes University by ensuring that study procedures are followed and will supervise the preparation of data collection procedures, participant recruitment, data collection and monitoring, staffing, field monitoring, scheduling , grant reporting and activities related to the project. The Project Coordinator will assist with ethics applications, as well as grant and ethics reports. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for supervising and managing drivers, community liaison, and fieldworkers

The Requirements

B Degree (NQF level 7) plus approximately 3 years relevant experience where such experience includes:

• Previous experience in working with word-processing, e-mail and the internet.
• Previous experience writing reports.
• Previous general administrative experience within a computerised environment.
• Must have a valid driver’s licence - useful but not really necessary if they can get themselves around.
• Two years’ experience coordinating or managing research studies is an advantage.
• Financial administration and meeting minute-taking experience.

Selection Process (provisional date, subject to change):

• Short-listing meeting scheduled for the TBC 2026.
• The selection process that will be followed for this post will include an assessment and/or presentation and an interview.
• Shortlisted candidates will be informed of the interview date.

Remuneration per annum (Grade 13):

Cost to Company per annum (Approximately): R326,973.12
