Responsibilities

  • Support IT department in providing technology services and user assistance.
  • Diagnose and repair hardware and software issues across the organization.
  • Configure operating systems and applications; assist with password resets and user provisioning.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity, VPN, and remote access.
  • Assist with project administration, scheduling, and maintaining project tools (e.g. ServiceNow).
  • Participate in backup, data recovery, and security update tasks.
  • Provide remote and on-site support as needed; help optimize system performance.

Position: Intern: Information Technology (IT)

Reporting To: Manager Workplace Operations, Central Europe & Africa

Mission & Tasks:To support the IT Department in providing efficient technology services, systems support, and user assistance while gaining practical experience in information technology, troubleshooting, infrastructure support, and business systems within the organization. In alignment with the company’s Internship Program Model and internal procedures, the Intern: Information Technology (IT) is responsible for the following activities throughout the program:

Hardware Support
  • Diagnosing and repairing hardware issues (CPU, RAM, hard drives, etc.)
  • Replacing or upgrading components Setting up and configuring new computers
  • Peripheral support (printers, monitors, keyboards, etc.)
Software Support
  • Installing and updating operating systems (Windows, macOS)
  • Troubleshooting software crashes and compatibility issues
  • Configuring applications (Microsoft Office, browsers, etc.)
User Account Management
  • Password resets and account access troubleshooting
  • Setting up new user profiles and permissions
  • Managing email and system logins
Network & Connectivity Issues
  • Troubleshooting internet and Wi-Fi connection problems
  • Configuring VPN and remote access
  • Hands on with network, UC, UEM teams
  • Resolving printer and file-sharing issues
Security & Compliance
  • Installing and maintaining antivirus software
  • Running security updates and patches
  • Enforcing security policies (multi-factor authentication, encryption)
Remote & On-Site Support
  • Assisting users via remote desktop tools
  • On-site troubleshooting for complex issues
  • Guiding users through basic fixes over the phone or chat
Project Administration
  • Assist the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, and executing project activities
  • Maintain project plans, schedules, and timelines
  • Follow up on outstanding tasks and dependencies
  • Schedule meetings and manage calendars for project teams
  • Maintain project tools and systems (e.g. ServiceNow)
Backup & Data Recovery
  • Restoring lost or deleted files
  • Migrating data between computers
Performance Optimization
  • Cleaning up unnecessary files and programs
  • Optimizing system settings for better performance
  • Running diagnostics for slow or crashing systems
Peripheral & Device Support
  • Connecting and configuring external devices (printers, scanners, webcams)
  • Troubleshooting Bluetooth and USB device issues
  • Supporting Teams meetings
What do we want to know about you?
Education:
  • National Diploma or Degree in Information Technology (IT).
  • Languages: English (spoken and written); knowledge of any local official language is considered an asset.
  • IT Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite; comfortable using company-specific digital tools and platforms.

Adaptability: Flexible, resilient in fast-paced, changing environments and willing to rotate between the two offices (Midrand and Kempton Park)
