Job summary

Datonomy Solutions (Pty) Ltd invites an Intermediate UX/UI Designer to join our enterprise design team within a large financial services environment. You will drive user-centered design across complex banking digital products.

You will conduct user research, create wireframes, prototypes and design specifications, collaborate with senior designers and cross-functional teams, and ensure alignment with design systems and brand standards. Prototyping and rapid iteration with Figma are essential.

Intermediate UX/UI Designer

We are looking for a talented and collaborative Intermediate UX/UI Designer to join an enterprise design team within a large financial services environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing design activities within established frameworks, working closely with senior designers and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver intuitive, user-centred digital experiences that meet both customer needs and business objectives.

This role requires a strong combination of UX/UI design, user research, prototyping, interaction design and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to take design requirements from initial concept through to validated design solutions.

Key Responsibilities

UX/UI & Interaction Design

Create compelling visual and interaction design artefacts, including:

• UI layouts and interface elements
• Wireframes
• Mock-ups
• Prototypes
• High-level storyboards
• User flows
• Design specifications

Translate business and user requirements into intuitive and effective digital experiences.

Develop user experience flows and integrate these into prototypes, usage scenarios, navigation maps and other design documentation.

Contribute to the development and maintenance of design elements, standards, specifications and reusable components.

Ensure designs align with established design systems, UX principles and brand standards.

User Research & Testing

Conduct best-practice research to understand and improve UI and interaction design.

Research emerging trends in:

• Visual design
• UI/UX
• Interaction design
• Digital design technologies

Conduct user research to identify customer needs, behaviours and pain points.

Develop appropriate testing parameters to evaluate the effectiveness of the user experience.

Use feedback and insights from user testing to continuously refine and improve designs.

Conduct competitor research and use findings to inform design recommendations.

Business & Customer Alignment

Understand project scope, requirements and business objectives.

Develop innovative design solutions aligned with business goals and UX metrics.

Balance user needs, technical constraints and commercial objectives when developing solutions.

Advocate for the end user throughout the design and development lifecycle.

Ensure solutions deliver meaningful value to both the customer and the organisation.

Stakeholder & Team Collaboration

Communicate design concepts and recommendations clearly, both verbally and visually, to gain stakeholder alignment.

Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure designs are successfully developed and implemented.

Work closely with senior designers, product teams, technology teams and business stakeholders.

Present design thinking, research findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.

Contribute recommendations that enhance existing products, services and digital solutions.

Work within agreed project scope and timelines to ensure deadlines are achieved.

A strong UX/UI portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design work, research, wireframes, prototypes and final interface designs would be highly advantageous.
