Qualifications

• 3–5 years of project management experience in software development or AI/Data Science.
• Strong ability to engage deeply with engineers and data scientists.

• Ability to work full-time from Pretoria office, on-site role.

Responsibilities

About the Role

CohesionX is seeking an experienced and highly analytical Intermediate Project Manager to join our team. This role is focused on leading the delivery of complex AI and software solutions. As we continue to scale our platforms and expand our client base, project management has become a critical function in ensuring our high-tech solutions are delivered efficiently, on time, and aligned with our commercial objectives.

In this position, you will take ownership of the end-to-end project lifecycle, bridging the gap between technical execution and business strategy. You will work closely with data scientists, AI engineers, and senior stakeholders to translate ambitious technical goals into structured, manageable roadmaps. You will be responsible for managing dependencies, mitigating risks, and ensuring that our AI-driven products meet the high performance and quality standards our customers expect.

This is an ideal opportunity for a professional with a strong technical background and proven project management experience who wants to play a key role in a fast-moving AI technology environment. You will be expected to bring structure to complex workflows while remaining agile enough to adapt to the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of projects, ensuring they are delivered within scope, on time, and to high quality standards.
• Act as the primary interface between technical teams (AI and Engineering) and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on product vision and requirements.
• Manage project resources, timelines, and budgets, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks or delivery risks.
• Drive the adoption of efficient Agile or Hybrid project management methodologies to improve the speed and quality of delivery.
• Facilitate key project ceremonies, including sprint planning and stakeholder progress reviews.
• Collaborate with technical leads to manage technical debt, infrastructure dependencies, and deployment schedules.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal frameworks for project governance and operational efficiency.

Must Have Requirements

• A university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or another strongly quantitative field.
• 3–5 years of project management experience, preferably within a software development or AI/Data Science environment.
• A strong understanding of technical concepts, with the ability to engage deeply with engineers and data scientists.
• Exceptional organizational, leadership, and communication skills, with a track record of managing diverse stakeholders.
• The ability to think strategically while maintaining a high level of attention to detail in execution.
• A genuine interest in artificial intelligence and how it can be applied to solve real-world business problems.
• The ability to work from our Pretoria office full-time, as this is an on-site role. Applicants should already be based in Gauteng or able to relocate prior to starting.

Advantageous Skills

• Professional certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile/Scrum certification).
• Proficiency with project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, or similar.
• Technical experience with Python, SQL, or API integrations or experience working with.
• Experience in a high-growth startup or scale-up environment.
