Job summary

TaxTim in Cape Town is hiring a PHP developer to maintain, expand and bug-fix both internal and client-facing functionality. You will write clean, efficient code and contribute to refactoring legacy systems into a Symfony-based architecture.

Responsibilities include creating and consuming REST and SOAP APIs, collaborating closely with the CTO and the dev team, and embracing coaching to learn best practices and new technologies in a fast-growing South African startup.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of full-time PHP development experience.
• Experience with MySQL.
• Familiarity with MVC / OOP and Laravel or Symfony.
• Fluent in English.

Job description

• Work closely with our CTO Evan and the dev team (John, Jerry, Ettienne and new recruits)

Requirements:

• Good working knowledge of PHP (2+ years full time working experience, or demonstrable projects, or formal training in PHP)
• Experience with MySQL (1+ years exposure)
• Ideal: Some exposure to MVC / OOP / Laravel / Symfony
• Interested to learn a lot, be coached into best practices, work in a team and be corrected at times, confident asking for help
• Self-directed and self-motivated, able to self-teach, upskill and learn new technologies without supervision
• Fluent in English (written and verbal)
