Job summary

AES Global in Cape Town is seeking an Intermediate Java Developer to join our expanding engineering team. This hands-on backend role focuses on secure, high-volume transaction systems and integrations with client and third-party systems in a hybrid setup.

You will work across the full delivery cycle, building new functionality, maintaining existing systems and assisting with security audits. A tertiary software qualification and 3–8 years of experience are desirable.

Qualifications

• 3-8 years hands-on development experience.
• Experience with Java SE/EE and Spring Boot.
• SQL experience with MS SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
• CI/CD and modern build workflows familiar (Maven, Git).
• REST/OpenAPI-based integrations.

A payments technology company in Cape Town is looking for an Intermediate Java Developer to join its growing engineering team. This is a hybrid role.

You'll work across the full delivery cycle - building integrations with client and third-party systems, designing and building new functionality, enhancing and maintaining existing systems, and resolving third-line technical queries. It is hands-on backend work on secure, high-volume transaction systems, with room to improve how the team builds.

• A modern build and version-control workflow (Maven, Git) in a continuous integration and testing environment
• Comfortable with REST / OpenAPI-based integrations

• Exposure to financial transaction processing systems
• Multi-threaded, high-volume, real-time systems
• Agile delivery (Scrum or Kanban)
• Front-end experience with Angular
