Job Purpose
Designs, implements, and supports an organization's databases, data warehouses, and data marts. This includes physical database design, managing and improving database performance, managing data dictionaries, running queries and data updates, and security enforcement.

Responsibilities

1. Business Requirements Identification: Collect business requirements using a variety of methods such as interviews, document analysis, workshops, and workflow analysis to express the requirements in terms of target user roles and goals.
2. Database Specifications: Contribute to the approval process for database specifications to ensure all agreed standards and protocols are followed and data integrity is preserved.
3. Install and Test: Install and test complex databases and associated products to ensure they are suitable for use and meet customer requirements.
4. Information Security: Implement and provide input on the design of required security measures such as firewalls or message encryption, monitoring performance to notify security experts of any problems.
5. Documentation and Backup: Create and maintain technical and / or user documentation to a high standard and back up files to ensure instant recovery if problems occur.
6. Data Management: Manage basic aspects of the data management system with guidance from senior colleagues, being responsible for developing or operating basic elements of the data management systems to deliver prescribed outcomes.
7. Technical Database Support: Design distribution of database resources and provide physical modeling and design services to tune database applications for optimum performance.

Education
Matric, MCSE in SQL advantageous

Experience
Minimum 4 years experience in data warehouse management.
