Job summary

A leading security company is seeking candidates for an investigative role that involves managing intelligence operations, training team members, and ensuring legal procedures are followed. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in investigations, excellent report-writing skills, and the ability to work independently under pressure.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of investigative experience (criminal and internal).
  • Experience in managing and supervising staff, especially in training roles.
  • SAPS, Defence Force, or National Intelligence Agency (NIA) background is advantageous.

Job description

  • Managing, analysing, and investigating information gathered from various sources.
  • Recruiting, developing, and handling confidential informants.
  • Ensuring proper legal procedures are followed during court processes.
  • Consulting with clients, SAPS, and court officials regarding ongoing cases.
  • Inspecting information files to ensure they meet administrative requirements.
  • Training team members on intelligence gathering, crime investigations, and informer handling.
  • Assisting the Investigations Manager in identifying and pursuing intelligence leads.
  • Participating in the planning and execution of tactical operations in collaboration with SAPS.
  • Linking suspects to criminal syndicates and tracking their activities.
  • Compiling reports that contribute to the prosecution of criminal elements.
  • Collaborating with management and clients to gather, verify, and share actionable intelligence.
  • Ensuring the confidentiality and operational security of all intelligence collected.
  • Monitoring platforms such as vehicle tracking systems, WhatsApp, and other digital tools for intelligence purposes.
  • Coordinating intelligence operations across various officers and departments.
  • Maintaining comprehensive records of intelligence gathered during field operations.
  • Planning and executing operations in partnership with Tactical Units and SAPS based on verified intelligence.

The suitable candidates shall have the following qualifications / attributes / skills :

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Valid drivers license
  • Minimum 3 years of investigative experience (criminal and internal / departmental)
  • SAPS, Defence Force, or National Intelligence Agency (NIA) background is advantageous
  • Valid firearm competency certificate
  • PSIRA grading
  • Experience in managing and supervising staff (especially in training roles)
  • Computer literacy : MS Excel, Word, and general MS Office proficiency
  • Strong report-writing and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to analyse data and present findings clearly and effectively
  • Strong interpersonal and client-facing skills
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Highly organized, deadline-driven, and detail-oriented
  • Resourceful with a proactive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile
  • High level of professionalism and discretion
