Job summary

The Recruitment Council, based in Durban, is seeking a diligent Legal, Risk & Compliance Officer to oversee the compliance framework for a prominent insurance brokerage. This role requires proven experience in compliance and risk management within the insurance sector, alongside RE1 and RE5 qualifications. The successful candidate will be tasked with ensuring regulatory compliance and enhancing the internal compliance framework.

The position is ideal for individuals with strong analytical skills, contract drafting experience, and a deep understanding of corporate governance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in compliance and risk management within the insurance industry.
• Practical experience in legal research and litigation processes.

Responsibilities

• Monitor regulatory developments and assist in implementing new requirements.
• Ensure compliance with the FAIS Act, the FIC Act, and applicable legislation.
• Communicate with insurers regarding regulatory and legal queries.
• Oversee the renewal of company financial lines insurances and licenses.
• Develop and implement the internal compliance framework.
• Identify operational risks and prepare risk management reports.
• Amend and update compliance documentation.
• Conduct compliance checks in respect of policy renewals.
• Oversee FICA and FAIS reporting and monitoring.
• Prepare internal compliance monitoring reports.
