SUMMARY:
Our client in the mining sector is looking for an INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN to join their workshop team based in Bellville, WC. Reporting to the Area Maintenance Manager in Western Cape, this position involves providing industrial field instrumentation selection, configuration, maintenance, and fault finding for all Operation & Maintenance contracts and projects. The incumbent will also be responsible for the implementation and execution of new instrumentation installation projects.
Please note, South African Citizens and residents of the area will be preferred.
POSITION INFO:
CRITICAL PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
- Ensure application of and adherence to the Maintenance Information System (SAGE ACCPACC Service Manager) and asset management, with assets clearly marked and controlled in the Asset Register. Attend to field instrumentation faults and breakdowns, prioritizing jobs accordingly.
- Plan and perform routine services, repairs, and preventative maintenance of instrumentation equipment efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Maintain an advanced understanding of equipment reliability concepts.
- Apply sound human resource principles, administration, and control procedures to meet performance objectives.
- Ensure safety and housekeeping standards are met as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act and ISO system requirements, with continual improvement.
- Maintain specified stock levels as per contractual requirements.
- Monitor and report on the condition of field instrumentation equipment.
- Assist with pricing, tendering, and implementation of new instrumentation projects.
COMPETENCY PROFILE:
Knowledge and Skills
- Qualified Instrumentation Technician with apprenticeship or equivalent training.
- Instrumentation Red Seal certified.
- Minimum of five years’ relevant experience in maintaining large instrumentation installations.
- Experience with Citect SCADA, Ethernet networks, PLC control systems, field control instrumentation, VSD operations, and setup.
- Strong supervisory, troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven planning and logistical skills.
- Valid Code 08 driver’s license and willingness to travel long distances.
- Availability to perform standby duties and respond promptly.
