A leading manufacturing company in East London is seeking a qualified Instrumentation Technician to manage the maintenance and repair of electrical systems. Ideal candidates will have a Trade Tested Electrician qualification with instrumentation specialization, 5+ years of industry experience, and strong PLC fault-finding skills. The role demands effective problem-solving and compliance with health and safety standards in a fast-paced environment. Market-related salary depending on experience.
TRADE QUALIFIED INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN/EAST LONDON –. Must have experience in the Manufacturing Industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, fault-finding, and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems across the plant. This role plays a key part in ensuring uninterrupted production, energy efficiency, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications & Minimum Requirements
Trade Tested Electrician with an Instrumentation specialization (Red Seal preferred).
N6 in Electrical Engineering preferable
Minimum 5 years’ post-trade experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
Solid knowledge of PLC programming and fault finding (preferably Siemens, Allen Bradley, ABB, Delta, Mitsubishi, Schneider, B&R, Bosch Rexroth)
Strong problem-solving skills
Passion for electrical systems and automation
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Proficient in electrical fault-finding, panel wiring, and motor control systems
Familiarity with Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) and SCADA systems is advantageous
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams
Knowledge of health and safety standards in an industrial setting
Ability to work shifts, overtime, and standby as operationally required
Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in a team
Primary Responsibilities
Perform electrical and instrumentation maintenance on production machinery.
Install, repair, and calibrate sensors, PLCs, drives, and automated systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve breakdowns with minimal downtime.
Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure plant efficiency.
Assist with control system upgrades and continuous improvement projects.
Ensure compliance with the OHS ACT, company safety protocols and electrical standards
Salary: Market related (depending on experience)
