Job summary

Morton Moore Pty Ltd hosts an Instrumentation Technician role at Amanzimtoti, SA. The technician will maintain plant instrumentation, calibrate field devices, and optimise control loops across furnaces and rolling mill processes.

Applicants should have a trade qualification in instrumentation or a National Diploma/N6 in Electrical Engineering (Instrumentation/Process Control) with 3–5 years in heavy industry. Willingness to work shifts and pass medicals is required.

Qualifications

• Trade tested or equivalent qualification in instrumentation/controls.
• 3–5 years' experience in industrial/manufacturing environments.
• Experience in steel, foundry, heavy engineering or similar settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned, preventive and breakdown maintenance on plant instrumentation and control systems.
• Install, calibrate, test and maintain field instruments measuring temperature, pressure, flow and level.
• Maintain and tune control loops, control valves, actuators and positioners.
• Fault-find on PLC, SCADA and DCS systems and their I/O.
• Maintain instrumentation on furnaces, cooling water systems and rolling mill processes.
• Maintain analysers, thermocouples, pyrometers and weighing systems.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams and instrument datasheets.
• Keep calibration records and instrument documentation up to date.
