Qualifications

WatersEdge Solutions is seeking an experienced and hands-on Instrumentation Technician to join one of our engineering partners. This is a high-impact, field-based role working across a variety of industrial environments. What You’ll Do

As an Instrumentation Technician, you’ll play a vital role in managing, maintaining, and commissioning a broad range of electrical and instrumentation equipment. You’ll be involved in everything from client liaison and procurement to hands-on field servicing and control system programming. This is a diverse and engaging role ideal for someone with strong technical acumen and practical experience in the EC&I space.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee projects, liaise with clients, vendors, and contractors for procurement, spares, and job completion
  • Install, calibrate, maintain, commission, and troubleshoot field and lab instrumentation (flow, pressure, differential pressure, temperature, level sensors, wireless devices, valves)
  • Service equipment including ABB breakers (1600A–5000A), drives, soft starters, HV switchgear, smart relays, dosing pumps, generators, and lighting systems
  • Perform planned and reactive electrical maintenance and plant upgrades across diverse sectors (FMCG, solar farms, wastewater treatment, etc.)
  • Program Siemens S7 PLCs via TIA Portal, Deep Sea controllers, IFM PLCs, and HMI systems
  • Operate testing tools such as Megger, Fluke multimeters and dataloggers, fibre splicing equipment, OTDR, and current loop testers
  • Execute FAT testing, safety system checks, loop/alarm testing, and IO testing
  • Complete and document commissioning records, including fault logging and audit trails
  • Communicate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project success
  • Travel to client sites for testing, fault-finding, and commissioning support
What You’ll Bring
  • Electrical & Instrumentation qualification (Red Seal preferred)
  • 3–5 years’ experience in an electrical/instrumentation technician role
  • Strong working knowledge of EC&I systems, instrumentation, and PLCs
  • Experience with fibre optic splicing (minimum 2 years)
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and using logic flow diagrams and P&IDs
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols: Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet, ASi, IO-Link
  • Competency with commissioning software and electrical testing tools
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities

  • Exposure to sectors like solar energy, data centres, or food and beverage processing
