Instrumentation Mechanician

Reporting to the Instrumentation Foreman, the successful candidate will service, maintain, install, and repair all instrumentation plant and equipment at the site, as well as ensuring correct readings of metering equipment.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Grade 12 / N3 certificate coupled with a recognized trade test in Instrumentation.
2. 5 years post-apprenticeship experience in an instrumentation maintenance environment.
3. Knowledge of Flow transmitters, Pressure transmitters, Temperature, PLC / SCADA, as well as Analytical Instrumentation.
4. Code EB Driver's license and the ability to pass the Rand Water K53 drivers evaluation.

Primary Duties:

1. The incumbent will ensure availability of an effective plant and continuous water supply to customers.
2. Repairing equipment and performing faultfinding by diagnosing faults in loops, strips, and repairing of instruments, re-assembling of testing equipment.
3. Receiving job cards and attending to breakdowns and faults.
4. Carrying out routine maintenance and service of plant and equipment in accordance with the work schedule.
5. Repairing and faultfinding of equipment by conducting regular equipment checks and carrying out new installations with precision and commissioning of installations in accordance with wiring diagrams.
