Dominion Energy Remington Power Station seeks a highly motivated Instrument Technician I, II, or III. There is one position available that will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. The position will involve reporting responsibilities at both sites, Ladysmith and Remington. This position offers relocation as needed.

Under general supervision, this role performs a full range of inspection, testing, service, repair, calibration, and install indicating, recording, and automatic control instruments such as flow meters, pressure gauges, thermometers, regulators, and similar components in a power station.

Responsibilities include:

1. Locate cause of defective performance of instruments, report findings to supervisor, and replace component parts as required.
2. Use portable pressure gauges, manometer, and other similar test equipment.
3. Perform preventive maintenance.
4. Test flue gas, read meters, and record data as required.
5. Perform tuning tasks on single loop controls.
6. Maintain and perform necessary changes to drawings related to instrumentation.
7. Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Will proficiently perform assignments having the knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience needed to carry out all aspects of the job; exercise independent judgment and decision-making in planning; organize and conduct work assignments; may receive instructions and guidance on unusual or complex problems and knows when to get others involved; effectively utilizes the proper resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches to problems encountered in work assignments; and identifies and eliminates unnecessary work and non-value added activities.

Minimum Requirements

1. Instrument Technician I: Associate's Degree in Electronics or related technology, with 0 - 2+ years of related experience in an industrial environment OR High School Diploma or GED with at least 2 years of related experience in an industrial environment.
2. Instrument Technician II: Associate's Degree in Electronics or related technology, with at least 3 years of related experience in an industrial environment OR High School Diploma or GED with at least 5 years of related experience in an industrial environment.
3. Instrument Technician III: Associate's Degree in Electronics or related technology, with at least 5+ years of related experience in an industrial environment OR High School Diploma or GED with at least 7 years of related experience in an industrial environment.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Both Levels:

1. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot various components.
2. Ability to utilize configuration drawings.
3. Valid Driver's license.

Preferences

1. Fossil power station instrumentation and controls experience.
2. Experience maintaining and troubleshooting Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS).
3. Start-up / operational support experience for fossil power plants.
4. Experience with Emerson Ovation.
5. Must have availability and flexibility to work OT as needed, including days, nights, and weekends.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Associate.

Preferred Disciplines: Technical Studies. Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.
