The South African entity of Swissquote is a financial services provider supporting independent asset managers acting as a custodian and broker and provides financial intermediaries with a dedicated tool for managing their clients and processing stock market orders. The focus is on international / offshore investments. We are a small team and look for a dedicated business developer with a strong existing network to join this exciting journey.
Your Role and Main Responsibilities are:
- You will be responsible for the acquisition of Institutional clients with a focus on asset managers (Category 2 collective investments schemes and other Institutional partners such as banks, LISPs, and trust companies).
- You will present the value proposition on offshore brokerage and custody across asset classes to interested parties.
- You will take front-to-back responsibility for the onboarding process which requires you to work closely with internal experts such as legal/compliance, IT, BackOffice, etc.
- You have a firm grasp on AML requirements across different client types.
- Your experience and your existing network will help you to acquire interesting Institutional clients and to establish long-lasting mutually beneficial relationships.
- You will look at prospective partners in a holistic way with the aim to find the best possible solution for their clients. This will require a solid understanding of the available solutions at Swissquote and constant interaction with internal specialists across disciplines such as OTC brokerage, Trading, IT integration by means of APIs, etc.
- You will independently identify potential client groups and sales strategies.
- Together with the team and the Head of Business Development, you will be instrumental in defining strategies and sales targets in order to successfully develop the market.
- If and when needed, you will travel nationally to meet clients or attend conferences.
Qualifications:
- You are interested in global financial markets and you feel at home in the offshore investment environment.
- Work experience with offshore providers/platforms is a big plus.
- You have completed a Bachelor of Commerce or have another relevant degree.
- You have at least 3-5 years of experience in the offshore investment world with a proven track record in Institutional business development.
- Strong knowledge of the South African Institutional market with a solid existing network.
- You are proficient in both written and spoken English and can handle correspondence independently. Additional foreign languages, particularly German, are an advantage.
- You are a self-motivated individual who enjoys working in a team and is characterized by a sense of responsibility, proactive approach, organized working style, ensuring a positive and professional client experience.
