Contract Type: Permanent Full-Time

Salary: Negotiable dependent on experience

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable L2 Infrastructure Engineer to join our team, providing technical support and infrastructure management for a prestigious London-based client. This role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimising a broad range of enterprise IT systems, including hardware, virtualisation, networking, cloud solutions, and security platforms.

The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a high-velocity enterprise environment. You will work as part of a dedicated managed service team, ensuring high availability, security, compliance, and optimal performance across the client’s IT infrastructure.

Role Responsibilities
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
  • Provide L2 support for hardware, software, and networking issues across Windows, Linux, and Mac environments.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to desktops, laptops, tablets, servers, virtualisation, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Support Active Directory (AD), Entra AD, M365, Exchange (2016/2019/Online), SharePoint, and Teams administration.
  • Troubleshoot issues in SQL Server (2016/2019), Power BI, and SQL DBA tasks.
  • Work with DevOps tools (GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, Visual Studio, Python, Visual Basic) to support automation and development needs.
Infrastructure & System Administration
  • Manage Windows Server (2016, 2019, 2022) and Linux environments.
  • Support VMware ESX, vCenter, Update Manager, and Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop (VDI, Director, Controllers, Netscaler, RSA, FSLogix, Application Manager, Licence Server, Patch Management).
  • Oversee backup and cloud disaster recovery solutions (Veeam Backup, Replication, iLand, Veeam One, Veeam Monitor).
  • Maintain server applications, SANs, replication, HP Servers, UPS, and Cisco networking.
  • Manage enterprise mobility using Ivanti Neurons and Ivanti UEM solutions.
  • Monitor and maintain PRTG, utilising it as part of estate, incident, and problem management.
Networking & Security
  • Troubleshoot networking (DNS/DHCP, routing, switching, Meraki, SilverPeak, iSCSI, VPNs, VoIP Phones, Brocade Fibre, Palo Alto Networks, HPE, and Cisco switches).
  • Configure and maintain firewalls, VPNs, and cloud security policies.
  • Support video conferencing solutions and enterprise communication platforms.
  • Support security solutions including CrowdStrike.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Work with third-party vendors and internal teams to escalate and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Assist with ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management processes using ServiceNow.
  • Document resolutions, processes, and best practices in the knowledge base.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and provide recommendations for IT improvements.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
  • Proven experience in IT support, infrastructure, and system administration.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux, VMware, Citrix, Entra AD, M365, and Exchange.
  • Strong knowledge of backup and cloud DR (Veeam, iLand, replication).
  • Experience with SQL management, reporting services, and integration services.
  • Exposure to DevOps (Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitLab, Python, Visual Studio, Visual Basic).
  • Networking expertise in Cisco, Meraki, SilverPeak, VPNs, VoIP, Palo Alto, and Brocade Fibre.
  • Familiarity with enterprise mobility solutions (Ivanti Neurons, Ivanti UEM, mobile devices).
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft, VMware, Citrix, Cisco, ITIL, Veeam) are a plus.

Screening call: Phone call with our recruitment team to assess your suitability for the role, and if the role is right for you.

First interview: Video call over MS Teams with the Hiring Manager.

Final interview: Video call over MS Teams with the client.
