Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Information Security Manager to lead our security initiatives from a remote capacity, serving operations across Gauteng and beyond. This leadership role shapes strategy, defines programs, and drives security excellence in a distributed work environment.

You will manage a distributed team, oversee controls and compliance, and partner with vendors to protect sensitive data while aligning with business objectives and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive information security experience with at least 4 years in management.
• Deep understanding of security frameworks, cloud security, network security, and data privacy regs.
• Proven leadership in security transformation and operations.
• Excellent communication and remote team leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute an information security strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Lead and mentor a distributed security team.
• Oversee security controls, policies, and procedures across IT infra.
• Manage security operations: incident response, threat intel, vulnerability mgmt, risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with POPIA, ISO 27001 and other standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a robust information security strategy aligned with business objectives and risk appetite.
• Lead and mentor a distributed team of security professionals, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
• Oversee the implementation and maintenance of security controls, policies, and procedures across all IT infrastructure and systems.
• Manage security operations, including incident response, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, and risk assessments .
• Ensure adherence to relevant legal, regulatory, and industry standards (e.g., POPIA, ISO 27001).
• Manage security vendors, technology procurements, and the overall security budget effectively.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in information security , with a minimum of 4 years in a management or leadership role.
• Deep understanding of security frameworks, cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP), network security, and data privacy regulations.
• Proven experience in leading security transformation initiatives and managing security operations effectively.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills for managing a remote team.
