About the Role

Our client, a dynamic technology solutions provider based in Bloemfontein, Free State , is looking for a vigilant and skilled Information Security Analyst to join their Security Operations Center (SOC) team. This role is critical in the continuous monitoring and defense of our client's information assets against cyber threats. As an Analyst, you will be responsible for detecting, analyzing, and responding to security incidents, utilizing advanced security tools and platforms. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while being an integral part of our client's security operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, possesses strong analytical skills, and has a passion for cybersecurity. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events from various security systems, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, and EDR.
• Analyze security incidents to identify root causes, assess impact, and determine appropriate response actions.
• Perform initial triage and investigation of security alerts, escalating complex issues as needed.
• Respond to security incidents according to established procedures and playbooks.
• Assist in the development and refinement of detection rules and incident response playbooks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in an Information Security role, preferably within a SOC environment.
• Familiarity with security monitoring tools such as SIEM (e.g., Splunk, LogRhythm), IDS/IPS, and EDR solutions.
• Understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S), operating systems (Windows, Linux), and common security threats.
• Basic knowledge of incident response procedures and cybersecurity frameworks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote team environment.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or CCNA Security are a plus.
