Overview

Doctors without Borders (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation committed to two objectives: providing medical assistance to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion, natural and man-made disasters; and speaking out about the plight of the populations assisted. MSF offers assistance to people based only on need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. Today, MSF is present in more than 70 countries, where thousands of MSF doctors, nurses, logisticians, water-and-sanitation experts, and other medical and non-medical professionals work together to bring essential health services to people caught in humanitarian crises.



Responsibilities

As an MSF IPC Nurse you will be responsible for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) activities and lead the development and maintenance of an infection control program according to MSF protocols and standards to ensure the quality of care and safety of patients, caretakers and staff.



  • Organising surveillance for healthcare-associated infections

  • Providing advice and leadership in outbreak investigation

  • Developing and delivering training on IPC to healthcare workers

  • Developing and implementing IPC-related policies and procedures

  • Auditing the quality and effectiveness of healthcare facility environmental cleaning

  • Auditing the quality and effectiveness of disinfection and sterilisation practices

  • Implementing local, national or international best-practice guidelines for prevention of infection transmission in clinical care.



Qualifications


  • Nursing degree and IPC diploma (both are required)

  • Minimum of two years’ professional experience as an IPC nurse

  • Recent clinical experience (at least six months within the last 24 months)

  • IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Fluency in English and/or French; any other languages are an asset (Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Russian)

  • Available for a minimum of six months

  • Commitment to MSF’s work and values
