Main purpose of job

To assist with the implementation and maintenance of a functional Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) programme at hospital level

Key responsibility areas
  • Identify, mitigate and manage risks related to Infection Prevention and Control
  • Investigate, analyse and interpret clinical data and act upon findings
  • Ensure adherence to statutory bodies
  • Identify training needs in the hospital and provide input in the development of training material
  • Influence and equip hospital teams to understand and comply with IPC policies and principles
  • Provide support with patient safety and quality improvement initiatives in the absence of the Patient Safety Manager
  • Continuous professional development
  • To manage key stakeholder relations
Education

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: Nursing qualification (degree or diploma)

DESIRED EDUCATION: IPC course

Experience

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2-4 Years working in a hospital environment as a professional healthcare practitioner

DESIRED EXPERIENCE: 1 year IPC related work
