MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To ensure the implementation and maintenance of a functional Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) programme at the hospital level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
  • Identify, mitigate, and manage risks related to Infection Prevention and Control.
  • Investigate, analyze, and interpret clinical data and act upon findings.
  • Ensure adherence to statutory bodies.
  • Identify training needs in the hospital and contribute to the development of training material.
  • Influence and equip hospital teams to understand and comply with IPC policies and principles.
  • Support patient safety and quality improvement initiatives in the absence of the Patient Safety Manager.
REQUIRED EDUCATION

Desired Education:

  • Post Graduate Diploma in IPC.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • 3-5 years working in a hospital environment as a healthcare practitioner.
  • 1-2 years IPC-related work, supervising a small team.

Desired Experience:

  • Supervision of a small team.
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Conducting system analysis of healthcare-associated infections and implementing preventative measures.
  • Interpreting and applying CDC definitions.
  • Auditing compliance to hand hygiene and environmental cleaning standards.
  • IPC surveillance and risk identification.
  • Report writing skills.
  • Identifying, investigating, and managing outbreaks.
  • Understanding and applying IPC principles.
  • Data analysis and interpretation.
  • Knowledge of statutory requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Experience with quality improvement methodologies.
