Qualifications

• 10+ Jahre Erfahrung als Mechaniker in einer industriellen Bekleidungsfabrik.
• Erfahrung als Werkstattleiter von Vorteil.

Responsibilities

• Vorbereitung und Wartung von Nähmaschinen für maximale Produktivität.
• Diagnose und Reparatur von Maschinen bei Bedarf.

Job description

The purpose of this job is to take full responsibility for the efficient preparation, installation, running and maintenance of all sewing machines and equipment in a manner that will ensure maximum productivity and efficiency for all operations within the factory. We operate a world class manufacturing plant with the latest technology and equipment.

Experience Required:

• Senior certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent knowledge and experience
• Qualified industrial sewing machine mechanic
• Valid driver’s license with access to own transport
• 10+ years’ experience as mechanic on the floor of an industrial/ clothing factory
• 3 to 5 years’ experience as workshop supervisor an advantage

Skills Required:

• Ability to work with hand tools and electronic diagnostic equipment
• Able to work on the following machines: Multi-needle Chain Stitch; Lockstitch; Overlocker; Safety Stitch; Bar-Tacking; Button Sew; Avro Welt Pocket Machine; Cover Seam and 2-needle Lockstitch.
• Attention to detail with an eye for shape and proportion
• Ability to follow instructions and adhere to procedures
• Able to work in a changing and fast paced environment

Key Outputs:

• Setting up production line machines for new styles, style changes, etc.
• Service and daily maintenance of industrial machines and equipment
• Repair machines as required
• Use diagnostic tools to identify problems and issues
• Update and maintain the company’s machine downtime report and other statistics
• Make recommendations to management with regard to equipment needs and machine status
