About the Role

Our client, a leading manufacturing entity in Port Elizabeth, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Industrial Safety Engineer to enhance their workplace safety programs. This hybrid role involves a combination of on-site assessments and remote analysis, focusing on identifying, evaluating, and controlling workplace hazards. You will be responsible for developing and implementing robust safety protocols, ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and safety audits of industrial operations and facilities.
• Develop, implement, and maintain effective safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
• Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international health and safety regulations (e.g., OHS Act).
• Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Design and implement strategies to minimize occupational hazards and reduce the incidence of workplace injuries.
• Develop and deliver safety training to employees at all levels of the organization.
• Maintain accurate safety records and documentation, including incident reports and inspection logs.
• Collaborate with management and employees to foster a positive safety culture.
• Advise on the selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Stay current with advancements in safety engineering and relevant legislation.
• Conduct periodic reviews of safety performance and identify areas for continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial safety engineering or a similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety principles, regulations, and best practices.
• Experience with risk assessment methodologies and hazard control techniques.
• Strong understanding of industrial processes and machinery hazards.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and training skills.
• Ability to conduct effective investigations and report on findings.
• Proficiency in safety management systems and software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
