About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous and experienced Industrial Engineer - Plant Layout to optimize their facility operations in Soweto . This role is vital for ensuring efficient material flow, space utilization, and overall operational layout within the manufacturing plant. You will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and implementing modifications to the plant layout to enhance productivity, safety, and cost-effectiveness. The ideal candidate will possess strong spatial reasoning skills and a deep understanding of industrial engineering principles applied to physical plant design and optimization in Gauteng.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and redesign plant layouts and material flow to optimize production efficiency, minimize travel distances, and ensure ergonomic workspaces.
- Utilize CAD software to create detailed drawings, models, and simulations of proposed and existing layouts.
- Analyze current facility operations to identify bottlenecks, safety hazards, and areas for improved space utilization.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and safety teams to gather requirements and ensure layouts meet operational needs.
- Develop and implement project plans for layout modifications, including equipment relocation and installation.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant safety regulations, environmental standards, and building codes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related engineering field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience specifically in plant layout design and facility planning.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for designing industrial layouts.
- Strong understanding of material handling systems, production flow, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Experience with simulation tools for analyzing material flow and throughput is advantageous.
- Excellent spatial reasoning, problem-solving, and communication skills.
