• Experience with simulation software for material flow and process analysis is a plus.
• Solid understanding of human factors engineering, anthropometry, and biomechanics.

About the Role

Our client, a diversified industrial group operating in the George, Western Cape, ZA area, is seeking an Industrial Engineer with a specialization in facility layout and ergonomics. This role is essential for optimizing the physical design of our production facilities and ensuring a safe, efficient, and comfortable working environment for all employees. You will be responsible for developing innovative facility layouts, improving material flow, and implementing ergonomic solutions to reduce workplace injuries and enhance productivity. The ideal candidate possesses a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of human factors engineering principles. This is an on-site position that requires close collaboration with operations, safety, and management teams. We are looking for a proactive engineer dedicated to creating world-class industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and optimize facility layouts for production plants, warehouses, and distribution centers in the George, Western Cape, ZA region.
• Analyze material flow, workflow, and space utilization to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Apply ergonomic principles to workstation design, equipment selection, and task processes to minimize physical strain and prevent injuries.
• Conduct ergonomic risk assessments and develop corrective action plans.
• Utilize CAD software and simulation tools to model and evaluate proposed layout and ergonomic changes.
• Collaborate with safety officers and site management to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Develop and implement strategies for improved workplace organization and 5S implementation.
• Research and recommend new technologies and methods for enhancing facility design and workplace ergonomics.
• Train employees and supervisors on ergonomic best practices and safe work procedures.
• Maintain documentation related to facility layouts, ergonomic assessments, and implemented solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field with a strong emphasis on ergonomics.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in industrial engineering, with significant experience in facility layout design and applied ergonomics.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software for layout design.
