About the Role

Our client, a prominent industrial enterprise in **Kimberley, Northern Cape**, is seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer to focus on Facilities and Layout Design. This critical role involves optimizing the physical layout of our manufacturing plants and warehouses to enhance material flow, improve ergonomics, increase safety, and maximize space utilization. The engineer will be responsible for analyzing current facilities, designing efficient layouts using CAD software, and collaborating with operations and construction teams to implement improvements. This is a vital position for ensuring operational efficiency and capacity in our Northern Cape operations.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze existing plant and warehouse layouts to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement. Design optimal facility layouts using CAD software, considering material flow, equipment placement, and workflow. Develop 3D models and simulations of proposed layouts to visualize changes and assess impact. Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and safety teams to incorporate their requirements into facility designs. Ensure facility designs comply with all relevant safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards. Plan and oversee the implementation of layout changes, including equipment relocation and infrastructure modifications. Conduct ergonomic assessments and implement solutions to improve worker comfort and safety. Evaluate and recommend improvements to material handling systems. Manage projects related to facility upgrades, expansions, or new constructions. Maintain accurate documentation of facility layouts, equipment specifications, and project plans.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial engineering, with a specialization in facility layout and design. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for facility and layout design. Strong understanding of material flow principles, ergonomics, and industrial safety standards.
