Placements24 is seeking a qualified Industrial Electrician for our client in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. The role covers installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in a busy industrial plant, with emphasis on safety and reliability of power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation.

The successful candidate will read schematics, diagnose faults, perform preventative maintenance, and work with low and high voltage systems. Shift, overtime, and standby may be required.

Qualifications

• Qualified Industrial Electrician with Wireman's License.
• Experience in heavy industrial/manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution, motor controls, and instrumentation.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and diagrams.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, power distribution panels, motors, generators, and control systems.
• Perform diagnostic tests on electrical equipment and systems to identify faults and recommend corrective actions.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to guide installation and repair work.
• Ensure all electrical installations and repairs comply with national electrical codes, safety standards, and company policies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues on production machinery and plant equipment.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on electrical systems to minimise downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
• Work with low and high voltage systems, including troubleshooting and repairs.
• Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to plan and execute electrical projects.
• Maintain accurate logs of all electrical maintenance, repairs, and inspections performed.
• Adhere to strict safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, and promote a safety-conscious work culture.

Requirements

• Qualified Industrial Electrician with relevant trade certification (e.g., Wireman's License).
• Proven experience working as an Industrial Electrician in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, motor controls, and instrumentation.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and diagrams.
• Experience with troubleshooting electrical faults using various diagnostic tools.
• In-depth understanding of safety regulations and best practices for electrical work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and the ability to report effectively on work performed.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and be on standby as required by operational needs in Richards Bay .
