Amanzimtoti, South Africa — Morton Moore Pty Ltd is recruiting an experienced Industrial Electrician to maintain and improve the plant's electrical systems. You will ensure safe, reliable operation to support continuous production throughout shifts.

Responsibilities include maintenance on motors, MCCs, switchgear and control circuits, plus diagnosing faults, wiring new equipment, and working with cross-functional teams. A Wireman's Licence is preferred and MV exposure is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining industrial electrical systems in heavy industry is essential.
• Knowledge of motor control, MCCs, switchgear, and distribution boards.
• Familiarity with lock-out/tag-out and safety procedures is required.

Our client, an established steel manufacturing company based in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal, is building a dedicated plant maintenance team and is looking for an experienced Industrial Electrician. The successful candidate will keep the plant's electrical systems safe, reliable and running to support continuous production.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance on plant electrical equipment and systems.
• Diagnose and repair faults on motors, MCCs, switchgear, distribution boards and control circuits.
• Install, wire, test and commission new electrical equipment and plant modifications.
• Maintain and fault-find on variable speed drives (VSDs), soft starters and PLC-controlled systems.
• Maintain overhead cranes, conveyors, furnaces and rolling mill electrical equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams and wiring drawings.
• Perform insulation resistance, earth continuity and other electrical safety tests.
• Apply lock-out/tag-out and permit-to-work procedures on all electrical work.
• Complete job cards, test certificates and maintenance records accurately.
• Take part in root cause analysis of recurring electrical failures.
• Work with mechanical, instrumentation and production teams to reduce downtime.
• Be available for shift work, standby and emergency call-outs.

Requirements

• Wireman's Licence (Installation Electrician or Master Installation Electrician) is highly advantageous.
• Minimum 3–5 years' post-trade experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Experience in steel, foundry, heavy engineering or a similar heavy industrial environment is strongly preferred.
• Sound working knowledge of VSDs, PLCs (e.g. Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and industrial control circuits.
• Exposure to medium voltage (MV) equipment is advantageous.
• Good understanding of the OHS Act and Electrical Installation Regulations.
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime, standby and weekends.
• Valid driver's licence, clear criminal record and ability to pass a medical assessment.
