Placements24 in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Technician for a manufacturing client. The role focuses on proactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and machinery to maximise uptime and efficiency.

You will interpret schematics, work with PLCs and VFDs, perform preventive maintenance, and collaborate with production teams. A trade diploma and at least four years' industrial experience are required, with willingness to work shifts.

Qualifications

• Trade diploma or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Electrical Maintenance Technician in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical systems and control circuits.
• Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of relevant South African electrical codes, safety regulations, and best practices.
• Experience with PLC systems and variable frequency drives (VFDs) is highly desirable.

Responsabilités

• Perform routine maintenance, inspection, and testing of electrical equipment including motors, control panels, generators, and lighting systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults and malfunctions in production machinery and plant infrastructure.
• Carry out repairs and replacements of electrical components and systems, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
• Install new electrical equipment and systems according to design specifications and project requirements.
• Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to guide maintenance and repair activities.
• Implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize equipment failures and operational disruptions.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and testing results.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations related to electrical work.
• Collaborate with production teams to schedule maintenance activities with minimal impact on operations.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance electrical system reliability and efficiency.
