A leading company is seeking an Industrial Designer responsible for the design and development of innovative products. This role requires expertise in SolidWorks and a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design. Qualifications

Job description

Industrial Designer

The ideal candidate will design, develop, integrate, and qualify products and systems from the concept stage and specification, to qualification, integration and production support as well as : Industrialize old products to improve costs.

Product Industrialization

• Improve design of current products to reduce manufacturing costs
• Design and develop new products
• Provide production support, e.g.: assembly, test instructions and training
• Develop production and test equipment including manufacturing documentation packs for China and local Production to verify:
• New Product Tooling
• New and current products are made according to requirements.
• Liaise with Chinese and local suppliers
• Test and qualify products against international standards
• Investigate and find current and new designs
• Draw up new product design and qualification specifications

Research Responsibilities

• Research new product technologies, components, and solutions.

Product Development and Deployment

• Meet with Management and team to ascertain the following :
• Timescales
• Product Design
• Product and Document Configuration
• Product Budgets
• Assist Design Team with:
• Product Deployment / In-house Production / Implementation at third party providers
• Manufacturing
• Field Support

Administration and Reporting

• General correspondence and administration completed accurately and timeously.
• Email, inbox, and data managed timeously and effectively.
• Professional image maintained in all communication.
• All reporting and feedback requirements met, and reports completed accurately and timeously, according to company requirements.
• Drafting, maintaining and ensure adherence to departmental processes and standard operating procedures.
• Supply statistics and information as requested.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree Industrial Design – Required
• 3+ years’ experience in the following:
• Conceptualization and problem solving of various design criteria
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, CorelDraw (Advantageous), and Microsoft Office (Compulsory)
• Proficiency with simulation software – mechanical and thermal
• Sketching, concept drawing, 3D presentation/rendering, technical drawing
• Design experience in plastic fabrication, other manufacturing processes such as sheet-metal, injection molding, extrusion, vacuum forming as well as printing
• Producing efficient designs within the framework of simplicity, feasibility, cost efficiency and accuracy
• Compiling assemblies and detailed manufacturing drawings in accordance with acknowledged manufacturing standards
• Issuing revisions and updates to the manufacturing drawings and material lists
• Providing technical support during manufacturing processes
