POSITION : Industrial Chemist

LOCATION : Roodepoort (Gauteng)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Research and Development Chemist to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the development and improvement of food and industrial products and processes, ensuring they meet the high standards and specific requirements of our diverse clientele. This role requires a deep understanding of food and industrial processes, a passion for innovation, and a commitment to environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct research to develop new formulations and processes.
2. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
3. Improve existing products and processes to enhance performance, reduce costs, and increase sustainability.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, engineering, and quality control to implement new processes and products.
5. Ensure all R&D activities comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
6. Stay updated with the latest advancements in chemistry and related fields.
7. Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
8. Assist in scaling up laboratory processes to full production scale.
9. Conduct stability and performance testing of new and existing products.
10. Liaise with clients to understand their needs and tailor solutions accordingly.
11. Participate in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to chemical processes and products.
12. Lab management that will guarantee lab technical maintenance, lab-chemical/technical upgrading, samples and reagents suitable allocation, and optimum utilization of lab space.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in chemistry, or a related field (Master's or Ph.D. preferred).
2. Minimum of 3 to 7 years of experience in R&D, preferably within the industrial industry.
3. Strong knowledge of chemistry to develop and improve manufacturing processes for a wide range of products.
4. Proven track record of developing successful products and processes.
5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and chemical analysis software.
7. Strong project management and organizational skills.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
9. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
