About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a highly skilled Industrial Automation Technician for their facility in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. This role is integral to the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of automated production systems and machinery. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), robotics, and industrial networks. You will be instrumental in ensuring the continuous operation and efficiency of our automated processes, minimizing downtime, and implementing improvements. Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain PLC, HMI, SCADA, and robotic systems.

• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support new product introductions and process upgrades.
• Provide technical support and training to operational staff on automation-related matters.

Requirements

• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field, with a focus on Industrial Automation.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with major PLC brands (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMI software.
• Experience with industrial robotics (e.g., ABB, KUKA) is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of electrical control systems, sensors, actuators, and industrial networking protocols (e.g., Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel within the Western Cape as needed, particularly in the Mossel Bay area.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including potential standby duties.
