Incab, a leading manufacturer of Fiber Optic cables and developer of innovative solutions for downhole applications in the oil & gas industry, seeks a highly motivated and well-connected Independent Sales Agent to aggressively penetrate the African oil & gas market, specifically targeting wireline and slickline service providers and operators. Your primary mission is to rapidly monetize your existing network and technical expertise to generate significant sales of our specialized downhole cables within the African market. This is a commission-based role focused on new business acquisition, leveraging your established relationships and deep market knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Monetize Existing Network: Leverage your established relationships within the African oil & gas sector, particularly with major service companies ("Big Four" experience highly preferred) and key operators, to secure meetings and sales opportunities for Incab products. To develop presale activities and provide with sales forecast
  • Market Development & Sales Execution: Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities with wireline and slickline service providers and operators across Africa. Drive the entire sales cycle from lead generation to contract closure. Provide market research and establish strong sales network in oil & gas market in Africa.
  • Key Account Qualification & Certification: Lead the process to qualify Incab as a supplier and achieve product certification (e.g., with major operators) – a critical path to large-scale adoption.
  • Technical & Commercial Negotiation: Handle customer inquiries, understand complex technical requirements for downhole applications, provide tailored price quotes, and negotiate commercial terms effectively.
  • Sales Forecasting & Reporting: Provide accurate sales forecasts and regular (monthly) activity/sales reports to Incab management.
  • Market Intelligence: Provide actionable market research, competitor insights, and identify key decision-makers within target organizations. Help establish Incab's sales network footprint in Africa.
  • Customer Support Coordination: Act as the primary commercial liaison, ensuring smooth order processing and timely communication regarding deliveries/shipments (coordinated with Incab back-office team).

Requirements (Ideal Candidate Must-Haves)

  • Proven Oil & Gas Sales Track Record: Minimum 5+ years of successful, direct sales experience within the African oil & gas sector, specifically selling downhole equipment, cables, or related technologies to wireline/slickline service companies and operators.
  • Big Four & Operator Access: Demonstrable, active relationships and a proven track record of selling to major international service companies (SLB, Baker Hughes, Halliburton, Weatherford) and African operators (such experience is CRITICAL). Ready-to-monetize client base is essential.
  • Project institute background: Significant experience working with or within major oil & gas design/engineering institutes in Africa. Understanding their specifications and influence on procurement is vital.
  • Deep market knowledge: Strong understanding of the technical requirements, qualification processes, procurement cycles, and key players within the African oil & gas service market, particularly for downhole applications.
  • Residency & Network: “Based in Africa” with an extensive, nationwide network of contacts relevant to downhole cable procurement.
  • Commercial responsibility: Ability to prepare quotes, negotiate complex contracts, and close deals.
  • Self-starter, proactive person: Initiative, proactive mindset, and ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision to achieve sales targets. Strong work ethic.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to articulate technical solutions and collaborate effectively with Incab's technical and back-office teams remotely.
  • Willingness to travel: Extensive travel throughout Africa is required to meet clients and build relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Petroleum) or a related technical field from an accredited institution.
  • Direct experience selling cables or sophisticated downhole equipment.

Compensation model

  • This is a 100% commission-based role focused on the new business generation.
  • Competitive commission structure based on achieved sales Gross Profit. Specific terms to be discussed and agreed upon based on the candidate's profile and projected business plan.
