Job description

The incumbent will be responsible for the overall teaching and learning activities, and additional relevant academic activities to support a positive student experience and enhance the brand's academic standing.

KEY RESULTS AREA:
  1. Coordinate, mentor, and assist students with respect to theory and practical studies, fostering their individual creative spirit.
  2. Develop teaching materials, including presentation slides, videos, and written feedback.
  3. Deliver student feedback in a timely manner, both in written and verbal formats, in person, and through the LMS.
  4. Manage overall grading and accurately record all formal assessments across platforms.
  5. Participate in cross-marking and complete moderation collateral, loading scripts onto moderation platforms.
  6. Track student performance and implement relevant interventions.
  7. Manage student discipline and handle formal disciplinary correspondence.
  8. Implement and adhere to policies and processes set out by legislation, accreditation bodies, and the IIE School of Hospitality & Management.
  9. Coordinate all aspects of assessment delivery, including invigilation, student preparation, revision, and extra classes.
  10. Engage in other academic activities such as research, marketing, campus and virtual events, and community projects.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • MA or MSc in Hospitality or Tourism Management with an Accounting module.
  • NQF level 7 / 8 qualification in Accounting or Business Management.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of 3 years' practical industry experience in Hospitality or Tourism.
  • At least 2 years' experience in higher education lecturing in Accounting and/or Business Management.
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
  • Proficiency in Learner Management Systems such as Blackboard, Canvas, Brightspace.
  • Positive interaction skills with students, colleagues, parents, and sponsors.
  • Strong communication skills at all levels.
  • Good understanding of the higher education regulatory landscape.
  • Awareness of the hospitality and food service industry.
  • Proficiency in related computer software and strong administrative abilities.
