Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a compassionate Special Needs Support Assistant to join a Pretoria childcare facility. The role focuses on providing individualized support to children with diverse learning and developmental needs to ensure active participation in classroom activities and overall development.

You will work with educators, therapists, and parents to implement tailored support strategies and foster an inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with special needs (autism/ADHD/LD).
• Understanding of basic special education principles and support techniques.
• Excellent patience, empathy, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Genuine commitment to inclusive education.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one assistance and support to children with special needs during daily activities.
• Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioral support strategies developed by educators and specialists.
• Assist children with personal care needs as required, maintaining dignity and respect.
• Facilitate social interaction and inclusion among all children in the classroom.
• Collaborate with teaching staff and external professionals to monitor and support the child’s progress.
