Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Special Needs Childcare Assistant to support children with diverse learning and developmental needs in Klerksdorp. You will work with lead educators to implement IEPs and assist in daily classroom activities.

Qualifications

• Experience with children, especially those with special needs or developmental challenges.
• Patience, empathy, and a nurturing disposition towards children.
• Ability to follow instructions and implement strategies provided by educators and therapists.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of basic child development and behavioral support techniques.
• Willingness to undergo background checks and training.

Responsibilities

• Assist children with special needs in daily activities, including personal care, learning tasks, and social interactions.
• Support the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) under the guidance of educators.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to children requiring extra attention.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating classroom environment.
• Communicate observations and progress of children to the teaching staff and relevant professionals.
• Adapt activities and materials to meet the specific needs of each child.
