Job description

Inbound Sales Development Representative

As an Inbound Business Development Representative at Sage, you will be responsible for engaging with prospective customers who have expressed interest in our solutions, with a focus on Sage Intacct.

This role serves as the first point of contact in the sales cycle, ensuring that inbound enquiries are qualified effectively and progressed into valuable sales opportunities. A key part of your daily responsibilities will involve engaging with potential customers, understanding their business needs, and developing detailed profiles of target-market personas, primarily at the C-suite level.

By excelling in this role, you will ensure that as part of a larger team, our sales colleagues have a healthy sales pipeline, thus contributing directly to growing our revenue as a business.

The product you'll represent is software, but not like most software you might know. Our solutions combine decades of proven expertise with modern tools like Sage AI, making work simpler and more efficient for customers. That's why they love us.

Uncapped earnings:

We believe that great work deserves great rewards. Our compensation is structured as base salary and commission, with realistic on-target earnings.

This is a hybrid role that requires a minimum of three days per week on-site at our Johannesburg office.

  • Respond promptly to inbound enquiries generated through marketing campaigns, website activity, events, and other lead-generation channels
  • Qualify, manage, track, and nurture leads in Salesforce using frameworks such as BANT
  • Identify customer needs, business objectives, and key decision-makers to determine solution fit
  • Achieve the required number of qualified leads and meet targeted conversion rates from lead to opportunity
  • Collaborate closely with Sales and Marketing teams to ensure a seamless customer experience and maximise conversion opportunities
  • Maintain accurate records of prospect interactions and pipeline activity within Salesforce

Your first 90 days at Sage will allow you to learn the business while also getting up to speed with your role and responsibilities. You will collaborate with your manager and team to complete the Sage onboarding program. You need to be focused and able to motivate yourself. Taking positive actions, being open to giving and receiving feedback, and seeking guidance when needed are all important for success.

Once you're ready, your day will include managing a high volume of inbound enquiries through phone, email, website forms, and other communication channels. You'll engage with prospective customers to understand their needs, qualify opportunities, and connect them with the right sales resources.

It's important to know that not every enquiry will convert into an opportunity, so the ability to build rapport, ask effective questions, and manage multiple priorities is essential.

At Sage, our goal is always to support and take care of our customers.

  • Superior organisational and time-management skills
